Diana Krall atuará a 24 de julho no Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, em Cascais. A canadiana é o primeiro anunciado do cartaz da próxima edição do EDP CoolJazz.

Há mais de trinta anos ligada ao jazz, Diana Krall estará a 24 de julho no Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, um dos espaços de atuações do CoolJazz, cujo cartaz da 16.ª edição se estenderá pelo mês de julho.
Diana Krall, que iniciou estudos de piano com quatro anos e começou a cantar profissionalmente com 15, tem uma longa relação com o público português, iniciada nos anos 1990, quando deu os primeiros concertos em Portugal.
Hoje, aos 53 anos, é apresentada como a "grande diva do jazz", com 15 álbuns editados e cerca de 15 milhões de discos em vendas em todo o mundo.
Segundo a organização, ao CoolJazz Diana Krall levará sobretudo "clássicos da carreira", enquanto intérprete, reinventando temas como "The look of love", "Let's fall in love", "Let's face the music and dance" ou "Cry me a river".
Com a atual digressão, a "Wallflower world tour", Diana Krall atuou em Portugal em 2015 e 2016.
O EDP Cool Jazz regressa em 2019 a Cascais para a 16ª edição, espalhando-se pelos espaços do Parque Marechal Carmona e Hipódromo Manuel Possolo.
NEWPORT, R.I. — Roger Waters promised that he would do something special as the Friday night headliner of the Newport Folk Festival, and he kept his word giving a one-of-a-kind performance.
The former Pink Floyd singer-songwriter not only surprised the sold-out crowd by teaming up with My Morning Jacket as his band, he also convened an all-star ad hoc backing choir with Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, Amy Helm — daughter of the Band’s Levon — and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, who added extra color to Waters’s eclectic set with her fiddle, just minutes after ending her own superb set on a different stage with the Watkins Family Hour.
Bandleader and guitarist G.E. Smith rounded out the group as Waters dipped into the Floyd catalog for a tender take of “Wish You Were Here” — that had the crowd singing along — “Mother” from “The Wall,” and “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse” from “The Dark Side of the Moon.”
He also celebrated the re-release of his 1992 solo album, “Amused to Death,” by playing the title track and “The Bravery of Being Out of Range.”
The classic rocker might have seemed an odd fit for the festival, but he made several pitch perfect gestures towards its storied history including a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young,” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the year Dylan famously went electric at the Fest, and John Prine’s crushing “Hello In There,” and was clearly having a ball. He also recruited Helm to help perform her dad’s song “Wide River to Cross.”
As if Waters himself wasn’t enough of a surprise, My Morning Jacket also played an unannounced, and fiery, set of their own prior to welcoming him to the stage.
That spirit of collaboration ruled the first day of the three-day festival.
Sam Beam — aka Iron & Wine — teamed with longtime buddy Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses to perform tracks from their recent album — including sublime covers of Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)” and Sade’s “Bullet Proof Soul.”
The two also individually guested with Calexico during that band’s vibrant set, which swung from rousing cumbia to moody ballads.
Bracing Americana rockers the Lone Bellow continued the cross-pollination vibe, inviting the ladies of Lucius to help provide harmonies on a cover of the Everly Brothers’ “When Will I Be Loved” and buzzed about new soul singer Leon Bridges up for a prayerful take of their own “Watch Over Us.”
The Watkins Family Hour itself is a collective effort as Sara and brother Sean of Nickel Creek joined forces with Benmont Tench of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Fiona Apple among others for a rousing set that careened from the sass of the Boswell Sisters to a bluegrass breakdown.

Brindó un show de dos horas y el público quedó encantado. Los aplausos y gritos no cesaban. “¡Bravo, Tony!”, “Tony, i love you”, eran algunas de las tantas frases dirigidas hacia el artista.
Stick Men fue un éxito total, tanto que Levin no quería abandonar el escenario y después de haberse despedido dos veces finalmente se retiró. Pero eso no fue todo. Por voluntad propia, a minutos de haber finalizado el espectáculo Tony salió del camarín y se dirigió hasta donde el público esperaba ansioso aunque sea verlo un poco más de cerca. Para su sorpresa, el bajista, acompañado por sus otros dos músicos, apareció por el costado izquierdo de la entrada a la sala ofreciendo sacarse fotos y firmar los discos.
Dos de los fans, Gabriel y Marita contaron a el periódico de Tucumán lo siguiente: “Yo traje mi guitarra eléctrica para que me la firme, ¡y me la firmó! Todavía no termino de creerlo. ¡Es un grande!”. “Vine con mi mamá y mis hermanas, lo escuchamos desde que somos bebés y no puedo creer que estuve a su lado hace instantes. Nos sacamos una hermosa foto familiar”.
La cola llegó hasta más allá de la salida del teatro, pero a Levin no le importó. De alguna manera, quiso devolver todo el cariño que el público le brindó esa noche. Familias, adultos y jóvenes disfrutaron de una noche mágica, junto a un artista internacional y reconocido mundialmente.
Músico británico, Alan Parsons nació el 20 de diciembre de 1949 en Londres. Antes de iniciar su proyecto, Parsons sobresalió como ingeniero de sonido en la EMI, siendo su trabajo más destacado el llevado a cabo con los Beatles en “Abbey Road”. Al margen de su colaboración con el grupo de Liverpool, Alan colaboró en grabaciones de gente como Pink Floyd, Al Stewart, a quien le produjo su famoso “The year of the cat”, o The Hollies. En 1975 dio inicio a su carrera con Alan Parsons Project en compañía del compositor y cantante Eric Woolfson y de Andrew Powell, encargado de las orquestaciones.
