Bio: Black Sabbath
Formada en Birmingham, Inglaterra, en 1968, la banda Black Sabbath fue la pionera en el lanzamiento de las bases del naciente heavy metal que asalto al rock en los años 70 y 80 . La manera violenta de tocar, y sus letras sanguinárias, machistas, místicas y ante todo sinceras con la realidad del mundo se tomaron como modelo para numerosos grupos futuros.
Su álbum homonimo de 1970 continua siendo uno de los mas innovativos e influyentes de la história del rock. Un cuarteto compuesto por Ozzy Osbourne (vocalista),Tony Iommi (guitarrista), Geezer Butler (bajista) y Bill Ward (baterista), inicialmente se llamo Polka Tulk y mas tarde Earth. Tomaron por asalto un circuito de pubs y clubes de su ciudad natal, con mucha energia, blues y rock. Compañeros de escuela y vecinos en Birmingham, o grupo ganó muchos seguidores en Inglaterra , en 1968 cambiaron su nombre a Black Sabbath. Un nuevo nombre que describia una imagen oscura, pesada y mística de la banda, y a su gusto por temas sobrenaturales y místicos. En 1969 entraron en estúdio para grabar su primer disco.
EL álbum Black Sabbath llegó a losTop Ten britanicos, donde permanecio por tres meses e consiguió para la banda un grupo de fans fervorosos en ambos lados del atlantico. Un gran salto para la banda ocurrió con la grabaçión de Paranoid, un álbum pionero de heavy metal. Contando con los riffs cortantes de guitarra de Iommi, y las vocales siniestras de Ozzy y el ritmo de Butler y Ward, Paranoid alcanzó una mejor posicion en las paradas inglesas y llegó a una similar en América donde permaneció por mas de un año, ganando disco de platino.

ResponderEliminarI love both those songs and they probably mean allot to Ozzy. When he wrote those songs when he just came out of very dark and sad and very low place after being fired fired from Sabbath. If it was not for Sharon his wife he may of given up and just died.
When Sharon found Ozzy after Sabbath, Ozzy was not much more than a ball on the floor in a puddle of urine. She pulled him up and gave him strength. Then into Ozzy's life walked Randy Rhoads who I think was just as good as a ripper as Eddie Van Halen. Then Ozzy and Randy made some of the best Ozzy songs of that time. But with Randy's untimely death the world will never know what the future held for Ozzy if Randy would not of died. But during the time Ozzy and Randy made those songs after the low spell after Sabbath Ozzy was Over The
Mountain in his life and Flying High Again.
But the world of rock cant forget the awesome songs that came out of Sabbath during Ozzy's absence. Ozzy was out of Sabbath and in walked Ronnie James Dio and then Sabbath put out Heaven and Hell a kick ass album. But it is sad that radio stations today don't play Heaven and Hell from Sabbath that much if any. Every time you heir a song on the radio from sabbath its the same 2 songs over and over and over again, Paranoid and Iron Man, what's up with that? Such as the song Neon Nights from the Heaven and Heall album was a rockin jammin song but not a lick played on the radio. And now that Ronny is passed away and one of the best voices ever in rock will leave another hole in the hearts of metal followers all over the world. Now years that have gone buy in the body of rock its heart still beats with the like of Ozzy and the spirits of the past greats.
